Analyst Increases Estimates On Nokia Lumia Windows Phone Sales

Analyst firm Oppenheimer & Co.’s Ittai Kidron has increased his estimates for Nokia Lumia Windows Phone device sales. He says there is a decent demand for Lumia devices. He also raised his Q4 estimate to $9.7 billion in revenue for Nokia.
Our checks point to balanced demand across all smartphone platforms (Symbian, WP7, WP8) benefiting from channel fill and strong carrier/Nokia/Microsoft marketing. We also believe the Asha portfolio continues to gain traction in what is traditionally a strong quarter for feature phones.
While the Lumia 920 is seeing solid interest, we can’t ignore the fact that it’s benefiting from strong subsidies from carriers and Microsoft as well as discounting from Nokia. These efforts will moderate in 1Q13, raising the key question of momentum sustainability.
I seriously doubt about his views on momentum sustainability in Q1 2013 because Nokia Lumia 920, Lumia 820 and Lumia 620 availability will further increase in many countries around the world. Increased availability should further push sales rather than decreasing it.
