KBC Mobile Banking app brings P2P payments to Windows Phone

KBC Mobile Banking app brings P2P payments to Windows Phone

1 of 82 of 86 of 8
Banking apps are now arriving on Windows Phone at a steady clip, so Belgium’s KBC Mobile App for Windows Phone is not that big news by itself.
What is however pretty newsworthy is that besides the usual ability to check your balance and make transfers, the app also finally allows Windows Phone users to make payments from smartphone to smartphone using KBC’s ‘scash’ (derived from scan & cash) function using QR code scanning technology.
UK readers would know off a similar service by Barclays called Pingit from which windows phone users are currently and rather annoyingly excluded.
Besides spending the KBC app also aims to help you save, with the ability to set up saving goals and share these via Facebook.
See a video of KBC’s scash in action after the break and find the app in the Windows Phone Store here.

Nokia Lumia 620 Launch Delayed In India, Expected In First Week Of March

Nokia Lumia 620 Launch Delayed In India, Expected In First Week Of March

Back in January, Nokia India announced that its low-end Windows Phone 8 device Lumia 620 will be made available in early February. Nokia spokesperson has now confirmed that Nokia has delayed Lumia 620 launch in India to March first week. While the pricing of Nokia Lumia 620 is yet to be revealed, it will be available in Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and White colors.
Delaying the much awaited device in a price sensitive market like India is a bad move from Nokia. I hope they will stick on to their current schedule now.

Windows Phone 8 has an odd text messaging bug, but there is a work around

Windows Phone 8 has an odd text messaging bug, but there is a work around

MessageErrorGood
Compose a text message by voice and then try and edit it using the little pencil icon.If your contacts are set to display by Surname first an extra, invalid recipients will be added, and no message sent. The solution – change the People Hub to display First Name first.
Todd from Todd 4 Tech has run into a strange issue with text messaging via voice on his Nokia Lumia 920 with Portico on AT&T.
It appears when sending and composing a text message via voice, and then editing the message before sending, an additional phantom recipient is added to the To: list which results in the message erroring out when one tries to send it.
The additional recipient added is the surname of the original recipient, but without a valid texting number.
This provided a clue to the solution for this issue.  It appears to happen only when the People Hub is set to Display names by Last,First – switching it to First,Last or Name,Surname (which appears to be the default on my phone) solves the issue.
Of course wanting to sort by Surname is relatively common, meaning Microsoft still has one extra bug to fix on their next software update.
Read Todd 4 Tech here for the bug in more detail.
Have any of our readers run into this issue? Let us know below.
