Windows Phone 8 has an odd text messaging bug, but there is a work around
Compose a text message by voice and then try and edit it using the little pencil icon. | If your contacts are set to display by Surname first an extra, invalid recipients will be added, and no message sent. | The solution – change the People Hub to display First Name first. |
Todd from Todd 4 Tech has run into a strange issue with text messaging via voice on his Nokia Lumia 920 with Portico on AT&T.
It appears when sending and composing a text message via voice, and then editing the message before sending, an additional phantom recipient is added to the To: list which results in the message erroring out when one tries to send it.
The additional recipient added is the surname of the original recipient, but without a valid texting number.
This provided a clue to the solution for this issue. It appears to happen only when the People Hub is set to Display names by Last,First – switching it to First,Last or Name,Surname (which appears to be the default on my phone) solves the issue.
Of course wanting to sort by Surname is relatively common, meaning Microsoft still has one extra bug to fix on their next software update.
